Just played Forza 5 on Xbox One

So here's the deal. I wasn't sure about getting next gen, this didn't help much. The Xbox One is nice looking, and definitely a performer. You notice the orange peal on the paint jobs if you zoom in close enough, the driving dynamics are ridiculous and lifelike. I could even see the machining on the wheels. Rear view mirror is functional, all the bells and whistles. It's sweet.

I wasn't a fan of load times, however. I'm not sure if it is because they are still developing the Xbox One and they are still working on Forza, but the loading took ages. I bet the development has something to do with this, as it was all testing equipment basically. That doesn't mean that load times will be negligible though, as the pre-release versions can be somewhat a foreshadow for the full release version.

I was fairly neutral with my opinion to the controller. The materials used are pretty nice, and the buttons for multi-tasking are sweet. The ergonomics didn't seem to sit right in my hand, maybe because I'm so used to the Xbox 360 controller, so I'm not sure about that yet.

Overall, I'm holding off on buying a One for financial reasons. Until I play a PS4 though, I still don't know for certain if I'll buy either.

Honestly, I know I'm going to cave in and buy a Xbone. Not when it comes out, but next Novemberish. Only because of Halo 5. Obviously Forza 5 will be bought as well.

Could see the orange peel and machining while in the photo mode during a race or in the showroom?

Because that was my fret with the showroom function in Forza 4, was that sure it looks pretty but when I go to take photos on the track or something it loses a lot of that quality (i know why, but my point is a showroom with that much detail when the game itself doesn't carry it over is pointeless to me).

because in the showroom the system can be entirely devoted to detail, but in play mode, the system has maths and physics to and AI and environment renderings to work out at the same time

I did drive the P1, though there were others around so I didn't spend much time setting up the settings and such. I just got into the racing as best I could.

Sorry, it was also a demo-like version of Forza, so I doubt all the release features are present.

I honestly didn't pay that much attention outside of "showroom" like loading screens etc. As in real life, you won't notice orange peel unless you are super up close, and while racing I didn't care enough to go into that much detail with my limited time on it.

Either way, visuals are noticeably better than forza on Xbox 360

Yeah I'm still in that debate. I want to get some of those games, but the $$ setback is tough to justify when I'll be building a higher end PC. I'm going to be more into Destiny anywho.

I'm not sure yet. The demo today didn't really sway me one way or the other either, as I was hoping it would do.

I'm the same way.

It's also more integrated into the home theater setup, and that works great for me because we use our 360 for netflix and Hulu more than gaming.

Once again, I know why as I stated in the first post. Its still a useless function. What does a showroom do for me other than "Oooo, ahhhh" for a minute. Not what I bought the game for.

However, I LOVE the photography aspect of the game, but was disappointed when the quality was lackluster in comparison to the showroom.

I enjoy the feature, because I'm poor and would never get to see those cars in person, much less fiddle with them... and Clarkson's commentary is great!

Understandable, and the same applies for real life showrooms too. Clarkson's commentary was fantastic and much desired as well. I just wish it had more use. A photo "showroom" mode would have been nice. Give me a few pre-selected areas to put the car in and let me take photos albeit in the showroom quality.

Now that I would be excited for.

See, I'll be rocking the hell out of Destiny on the 360 when it comes out. But I know what you mean. $500 is hard to pull the trigger on.
